Kisses

Petite after finishing her dinner: "Hey, Mommy, Daddy, for dessert can I have one of those Murphy Kisses?"

Of course, she meant Hershey's kisses. So precious!

Potty Training

The Petite doesn't like it when Daddy uses her bathroom as his "office." Recently she erected a sign on her bathroom door stating it was not for use by Daddy nor Mommy. This is what transpired just 15 minutes ago:

***Petite sees lights on in her bathroom, begins to climb stairs to investigate.***
Petite: Daddy, are you stinking it up in my bathroom?
Daddy: Yes.
Petite: Daddy, I said that you and Mommy can't use my bathroom! *reads sign* "Bathroom not for Daddy or Mommy."
Daddy: But I like this bathroom.
Petite: Daddy, did you NOT read the sign??!!

Ninjas

I'm laughing as I write this. Brad and the Petite just went to go pick up some sushi for dinner. When they got back in the car the iPod was playing Beautiful People by Marilyn Manson. Brad said she was completely rocking out to it, no body part left unmoving. Then all of a sudden she said:

Daddy, this song is cool. Is this a ninja song?!

I'm crying. Crying!

My Petite is aware of my obsession with Lady Gaga. She can call out most Gaga songs on the radio and today she did just that, but in the funniest way for an almost 5 year old. While the joke is not original, her deadpan delivery was priceless. As we rolled out of the grocery parking lot we were listening to "Poker Face." She said to me, "Mommy, is this Lady Gaga?" I said, "Yes, good ears!" Without missing a beat she says...

Mommy, know how to make Lady Gaga mad?

Me laughing almost uncontrollably: How love?

You poke 'er face!

(she inevitably heard me tell this joke to Brad the other day.) I nearly wrecked our car laughing at my child's comedic perfection.

Today we spent the morning in the ER because I was so dehydrated and sick with the most painful acid reflux. This afternoon she was being my Dr with her Dr kit. Here is what she said:

Petite: Mommy I'm going to write you a scription so you won't feel notches. You were very brave and I love you. I also scribed you lots of kisses.

Recently we shared with the Petite that I am pregnant. She nearly came out of her skin with excitement. She's been praying every night for 6 weeks for "a baby in Mommy's belly." The night of the day we told her, she said this to her Daddy.

Petite: Daddy, I am so excited there is a baby in Mommy's belly! We prayed to God and he gave us a baby. I love God!

Her innocence and love is so refreshing.

Mommy: You are going to be a great big sister when God gives us another baby.

Petite: Mommy, I promise to share all my things.

Mommy: That's really nice sugarbear!

*pause and quizzical look on Petite's face*

Petite: But Mommy, there is one thing I WON'T share...

Mommy: What is that?

Petite: My germs. I won't share those. (she is currently sick)

February 8, 2010

Early this morning, while I was asleep, Daddy and Petite were headed out to the grocery. I've been having a horrible fibro flair up and been experiencing quite a bit of pain. This is the conversation that transpired b/t Daddy & Petite as they got ready to go to the store, while I lay in bed.

Daddy: Let's be quiet. Mommy is still asleep.
Petite: Is she okay Daddy?
Daddy: She doesn't feel well because her back hurts.
Petite: We need to get her some soup and Gatorade so she'll feel better Daddy.

So precious. Those are the two things we get at the store when we don't feel good. She just wanted me to feel better.

Cut to later this afternoon... a conversation b/t Petite and Daddy about Maama and her big house.

Petite: Daddy, why does Maama live in that big ole house alone? Why doesn't she have a husband?
Daddy: Well, sweetie, Maama and Papa used to be married.
Petite: Why not anymore?
Daddy: Sometimes mommies and daddies decide it's better to live apart.
Petite: Some day a boy is going to go to Maama's house and their hearts are going to beat fast and they are gonna get married.

PRESH!

Precious Words

This blog is my forum to be able to record all the funny and sweet things that my little Petite says daily. I have missed writing down so much of it. Lucky for me, my sweet mother-in-law sends a lot of it in email form. Bear with me as I work to include all of that eventually. So here it goes...
